Nobody at MAFC draws a salary. The club is governed by a Board of Trustees elected annually by the membership — every member gets a vote — with officers who volunteer their evenings so five airplanes stay affordable, maintained, and flying.
Chairs the Board, sets the club's course, and is the final word on operational questions. Janis is also one of the club's flight instructors — you'll find her on the CFI roster as well as at the head of the meeting table.

The Bylaws (approved by the membership) define the Board; the Rules & Regulations govern day-to-day flying. Trustees are elected each year, meetings are open, and any member can bring an issue to the floor — that transparency is why a volunteer organization has thrived for forty years.
The club runs on volunteered skills — accounting, wrenching, teaching, web design, event planning. Members who pitch in are exactly who the Board looks for when applications come up for a vote. Consider this a hint.
Both monthly meetings are open to prospective members — and attending two is literally step one of joining.
