Block Island Day Trip
Block Island State Airport, RI
Advanced: Special procedures (SFRA/overwater). Club recommendation: first run with a CFI or experienced member.
Block Island is the club's classic 'this is why we do this' trip โ an hour up the coast, a short over-water leg, and you're on an island that feels a century away from the Parkway. Rent bikes at the field, ride to Mohegan Bluffs, and be back for a late lunch overlooking the runway.
The over-water segment deserves respect: life vests, altitude, and a plan. It's also the best possible excuse to finally do that flight-following habit right.

Club has been making this run for twenty years and it never gets old. Rent bikes at the field, ride to the bluffs, burger at the airport before departure. Take the Diamond if you can get it.
Got RON approval and stayed the night โ sunrise over the Atlantic from the bluffs was worth every penny of the daily minimum. Ops made the paperwork painless.
