Statue of Liberty Flyaround
New York Harbor — aerial tour, no landing
Advanced: Special procedures (SFRA/overwater). Club recommendation: first run with a CFI or experienced member.
Up the shore past Sandy Hook, into New York Harbor under the Class B in the Hudson River Exclusion, and around the Statue of Liberty with the downtown skyline behind her. Distance and time above are the full round trip from Lakewood — you're home in about an hour with a phone full of photos and a passenger who won't stop talking about it.
This is the club's favorite 'convert a friend into a student pilot' mission. It flies under the special VFR corridor rules — self-announce on the CTAF, stay below the Class B shelf, lights on, eyes out. Study the New York TAC and the SFRA procedures before you go; the first run is best flown with a club CFI or an experienced member in the right seat.
